Housing Data Ninja Consolidated Dataset

We currently have a beta version of a consolidated CSV file of publicly available data. This file will continue to be updated with many more publicly available fields and derived variables. Download latest file.
Variable Naming Conventions
To support time-series analysis, additional variables have been created for each original economic indicator. These follow a consistent naming pattern to make them easy to interpret:
Lagged Variables
-
Format:
VARIABLE_LAGn
VARIABLE
= The original variable name (e.g.,UNRATE
,HOUST
,PERMIT
).n
= The number of months the value is lagged.- Example:
UNRATE_LAG3
= Unemployment rate value from 3 months prior.
Rolling Standard Deviation Variables
-
Format:
VARIABLE_SD6
VARIABLE
= The original variable name.SD6
= Standard deviation of the past 6 months (rolling window).- Example:
HOUST_SD6
= 6-month rolling standard deviation of housing starts.
These derived variables are useful for understanding both short-term volatility (via standard deviations) and historical trends (via lagged values) in the dataset.
